Siamese twins Erica and Eva were separated in 2014. What the girls look like after the procedure
|In 2014, in California, USA, the Sandoval family was born with conjoined twins. The little girls were fused in their mother’s womb.
Children had one pair of legs and two bodies. From birth, they learned to understand each other with a half-word and a look.
The daughters’ favorite place was the park, where the little ones liked to walk with dad in their arms.
However, the idea of the separation of Erica and Eva did not leave their parents. Artoo and Eid wanted their daughters to spend their lives like all ordinary children.
The decision was not easy to make because there was always a possibility of danger.
But as the specialists reassured the parents that everything would be fine, the parents agreed.
After numerous examinations, in December 1916, the twins underwent surgery. The medical team consisted of 50 specialists.
The operation lasted 17 hours and was, fortunately, successful. The girls had to spend three months in a rehabilitation center.
Now a new stage awaited them, as they would have to adapt to their new situation and learn to master their bodies.
It was a great joy for the parents to realize that their daughters were finally going to start living apart.
More than six years have passed since their separation. The girls received a special car to get around more easily.
Parents celebrate their daughters’ separation day as their second birthday.
